Incontinence Fitting Guide
FITTING GUIDE
It is important to get an accurate measurement to help make sure that the incontinence aid you choose is comfortable and keeps you dry and protected. It is quick and easy, all you will need is a measuring tape.
Take the measuring tape and measure the users waist and hip measurements. For the waist the tape should be placed at the smallest part of the hips (above the bellybutton). The tape measure should be snug round the waist or hips and flat to ensure the correct measurement is taken. Then place the tape around your hips and take this measurement, again making sure the tape is flat and snug.
Some points to remember when buying incontinence products:
- The correct size should be a nice fit and be secure in the groin area.
- The leg area should be snug, as a bigger size doesn’t make the product better or more absorbent.
- If the product is too big for the user it will make the product uncomfortable as it will be bulky.
- If the product is too small it will make the product uncomfortable as it could cause skin irritation.
- If the wrong size fixation pant is chosen this can cause leakage as the insert pad will not be secure against the user.
